A F.O.L.S Fun Run with a difference

Hello everyone

It was supposed to be FoLS’s very first Community Run event on Sunday 17thMay, so we’ve had another idea how we can do something together as a school community!

We thought it would be fun if ‘Langton went to London’. So we are asking those who’d like to be involved, to walk, run, cycle, bounce at least one mile (in your garden or on a walk) on Sunday 17thMay. To take a photo of everyone who went with you, so we can create a collage of the event and to then email the distance you covered and the photo to your class teacher that afternoon/evening. We will then collate the distances (this distance includes all grown ups, children and pets that go with you – ie. 1 adult, 1 child and 1 dog walk one mile, this equals 3 miles towards the distance total) and create our route on a map to see how far we all walked together. For example, it is 234 miles to London.

Let’s see if we can get there, or even further!!

Thank you and we’ll be in touch again soon.

These are the boys and girls we were celebrating this morning. Extra special mention was made of our Year 6 girls football team, who came third in the North Yorkshire Girls Tournament. A huge achievement against much larger schools.

MATHLETICS MEDAL WINNERS

As you will see in today's newsletter, Nov 15th, there are new school based awards for time spent and points scored on the mathletics learning propgramme. Every child has a log in, found in the cover of their reading record, and from this they can achieve awards. Mr Walker handed out some bronze, silver and gold awards in assembly this week. Congratulations to all at the front. Will it be you up there next time?

Langton's Act of Remembrance

A very special, respectful and poignant event in the school's calendar. A real pleasure to have Mr Wellard with us again this year and a group of adults, parents, friends and visitors. As well we heard children's poetry, and  the wreath was placed by our oldest and youngest school members. We did very well observing our minutes silence.

Harvest Festival 2019

' All is safely gathered in and shared around ' poetry, prayers, messages, cooking, performances and story telling. The recipe for a fabulous harvest festival. Thank you for your generous gifts for Ryedale Foodbank.

                                 HARVEST FESTIVAL

On the 7th October we had a whole school harvest festival. Each class had a chance to perform in the church. Derwent class did a play (The Enormous Turnip.) Foss class told us what we needed for a good harvest, Ouse class found meanings for nearly every vegetable\fruit and Rye class had three poems read out by Honor, Ella and Harriet. And Gwennie also read out a prey. We all really enjoyed it. Well done everybody!
