Tag Rugby Tournament

Malton Tag Rugby Tournament

On 9th October the whole of Rye class went to Malton sports centre to play in a tag rugby tournament. Not including our 3 teams, there were 5 teams at the tournament, our teams were team A, B and C. Not many of us had ever played tag rugby before so we were all a little bit nervous and didn’t really know what we were doing.

At one point it started to rain quite a bit, which made it quite hard to run around and even to stay upright, although it was better when we were trying to dodge people getting our tags while we were scoring tries.

Some games we won and others we lost, it was usually very close with the scores. We didn’t end up winning but we all had a great time.

Cross Country

Cross Country

On Wednesday 2nd of October some Rye and Ouse class members took part in a cross county at West Heslington school we left school at about 1:30. When we arrived we went to a ploughed field where we would be running. Then when West Heslington School came round two old Langton Primary School members were with them Oliver and Emily Parker. A lot of us rushed to see them but we were called back because the elite race started there were 8 people from each school 4 boys and 4 girls. The girls were Lottie C, Sophia J, Bella M and Ella R-A, the boys that were there that ran the elite race were Jack J, Elias C, Jake J, Jasper J, who ran the elite race they all worked so hard and all our girls got into the top twelve well done girls! When they finished all their faces were bright red like apple. After we had a small break. Then we were called back again because the fun run was starting. Some people from the elite race ran the fun run it took ages to finish it was a course were you would go over huge mountains and go down them. Unfortunately there were cow pats everywhere it was disgusting. Oddly there were sheep and as people passed them they tried to escape. Only the first boy and first girl would get a meddle but Honer Q was the second girl so she was so close Well Done Honor!

Langton's Sports Relief

On the 22nd of March Langton Primary School had a sports relief to raise money for charity, there were 8 events including: an obstacle course run by Lola Atkinson, an adventure course run by Ella Hoste, a relay race run by Hettie Mahon who was sick so Niall Hill took her place, dribbling a basketball then a football was run by Ellie Johnson, netball shooting run by Robert Cogger, football goals run by Thomas Radford, The mat game (where you have two mats and no-one is aloud off the mats and they have to move one mat in front of the other to get to the other side of the hall) run by Lily Parker and speed bounce run by Eddie Huntriss.

Each house was split into 2 teams, one half would do one sport and the other half would do the other sport. Once the whistle was blown once, the two halves of the house would switch and once it was blown again the entire house would move on to the next course. After the first two games we had break time for 10 minutes then we did the other two events.

After all the events were played everyone got dressed in there school uniform again and Mr Cairns (our P.E teacher) told everyone to go in the hall whilst the sports ambassadors and there helpers put every thing away. After they put everything away Mr Cairns counted all of the points together and then he announced the results.

Here are the results of Langton Primary School sports relief!

5-a-side Football @ Leavening, Nov 2017

In November, we hosted our annual 5-a-side football tournament for schools in the Howardian Small Schools Alliance on the playing fields at Leavening School. We took 4 teams and our new bag of footballs off—the teams all made it back, the same can’t be said for all our footballs! Oli and Niall tell us more….

“On Thursday 9 November 2017 we went to Leavening football tournament. Lots of teams came from the local area: Langton, Terrington, Slingsby, Warthill, Sand Hutton and Leavening. All of the teams played well.

“There were 10 games before the semi-finals . Langton green won all of their games in the group stage, then it came to the semi-finals which was Langton green vs Terrington A and Langton won in a very close game, 3-2.

“Then it came to the finals which was Langton vs leavening A, Leavening won the trophy as they scored a very lucky goal to win 1-0. Overall Langton had a good day.”

Sportshall Athletics - Nov 2017

“On Wednesday the 21st November , 13 pupils went from Class 3 and 8 people in Class 2 went to the sports hall athletics tournament.

“There were 5 other schools including Rillington ,Settrington, Norton, Malton and Welburn.

“There were 6 events which were: shot put, chest push, long jump, speed bounce, high jump, target throw and three relays for everyone. Everybody did 3 different events and 3 people a go.

“Unfortunately Langton only came 4th but they tried their best.

“We came 1st in the 1st relay. Robert, Ruby, and Millie came first in the target throw when they tried it. Elias, Leon and Josie were excellent in the speed bounce with Elias getting 88, Leon getting 86 and we don’t know what Josie got but we are still really proud of them all. Charlotte and Honor also put on a very good show in the Chest Push. Millie says, “I really enjoyed that and think that it was great experience and would love to go again. I think that most people in this room would agree.”
