A message from all of us
My name is Kathryn Cummings but I tend to be called Mrs. C. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone at Langton Primary school really well. I live in York and love being outside in the countryside with my dog, I also enjoy cricket, James Bond films and reading books.
I am delighted to have joined the team here at Langton and I am really enjoying my new role at the school. I have been teaching now for many years and I have previously taught across all ages in Key Stage Two with the majority of my experience being in Year 6. I have come from a much larger outstanding primary school where my responsibilities were behaviour and safeguarding. At Langton as well as being Class 3 teacher it is my role to lead Maths and PE.
I live in a small village on the outskirts of York with my wife and two young children. My personal life revolves around my family and I really look forward to the time we spend together. We go on camping holidays and days out whenever possible and I also have a keen interest in sport, cinema and music. I really enjoy participating in most sports although I seem to spend more time cheering for my children than playing myself now!
Rye Class Curriculum Letter Spring Term 2021
Dear Parents,
First of all, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and I hope that you have all had a great Christmas. It is not the start to the New Year that many of us were expecting but I have been really pleased with the quality of the home learning that I have received so far. There are only a few children in Rye class at the moment, who are completing the same tasks as everyone learning remotely. I will be a maths and English task each day combined with either topic, computing or science. Outlined below is a summary of the areas of learning that we will be covering this term.
In Literacy we will learning about myths and legends stories. We will learn about the key features of each and the similarities and differences between them. We will then have a go at planning and writing our own myths and legends stories.
In Maths the children will be increasing their knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages. This is an area lots of children find tricky so we will be working hard to improve their skills and confidence. The children have been working hard to learn their times tables so this should really help. All children in class are set Mathletics activities to do at home whenever possible which covers the whole maths curriculum and really improves their mathematical knowledge. If you could encourage them to do this at home too please it would be very much appreciated and really beneficial.
